Once upon a time, my grandfather Demetros with the nickname Zerzekkis – which means my sweetie at that time in Asia Minor language – he was born in the village of Athienou in the 19th century. My grand grandmother Athena was from Asia Minor as my grand grandfather Zannetos fell in love with her when he was trading Village Homemade food over there. Difficult times then… My grandfather was a farmer, shepherd, and trader at the same time. At that time, it was very hard to raise a family with so many kids. So, all the family helped to feed, to milk and take care of the animals. Imagine that the stable was in the backyard of the house and the everyday work was done with love and gratitude. The everyday milk, my grandmother Despina, was producing Halloumi and Anari. It is stacked in my mind, that my mother as a kid at that time, delivered to all the relatives almost every day fresh Halloumi and Anari. Of course, on the return they gave other kind of fresh food, like bread, olives, fruits, nuts or any other products made from fruits to bring home. Not the big life, with a few but necessary things every day on the table coming directly and simply from the earth and the animals, and at the same time a stress less life. With good friends and happy time. Furthermore, my grandfather had the responsibility to buy other homemade products from friends and sell, due to his talent and charisma for selling, to the town. So, he was visiting open markets and he was selling not only his products, but also other products produced in our village. His passion, his honesty, his open character, his open mind, and his excellent quality village products helped him to make good sales. His customers, who at the end of the day became friends, were expecting him every time to arrive at the market to purchase his high quality made with love products. Time changes but we remain loyal and ready to supply the best products to you, because our good food is keeping us healthy and strong in life!
